REIMAGINING THE FUTURE… FROM THE GRASSROOTS.

The saga of Swami Janaki Das Vidyapith has its roots in a time when Sri Sri 108 Dr. Swami Prajna Das Kathia Babaji Maharaj, the worthy disciple of Sri Sri 108 Swami Janaki Das Kathia Babaji Maharaj, arrived in Natungram from Vrindaban.

He set up an ashram in the idyllic setting, naming it “Swami Janaki Das Kathia Baba Tapoban”, and dedicating it to the work and worship the Almighty.

However, the ambience of illiteracy, ignorance and superstition that engulfed large parts of the surrounding region disturbed Babaji Maharaj greatly. He wanted to change the picture.

He quickly realized that if the poor local population were to break free of their vicious cycle and aspire for equal access to the opportunities available to their ‘big city peers’, the only route was through education. Specifically, a contemporary and scientific learning experience that was uniquely infused with timeless Indian morality and values, and delivered through the global medium of the English language.

The noble mission found instant resonance with the people of the locality. They responded to their ‘Call of Duty’ enthusiastically, selflessly donating land for the construction of the building and premises.

And so it was that, on the 11th day of July 2010, the dream of Dr. Swami Prajna Das Kathia Babaji Maharaj finally saw the light of day.

The auspicious moment - when the sacred land was kindled by our reverend Gurudev to mark the inauguration of ‘Swami Janaki Das Vidyapith’ – remains etched in the memory of the souls who were lucky to witness the revolution come to life.

On that day, Swamiji boldly declared the aims of SJDV :

“It is a different kind of Institution. We want to impart a scientific and up-to-date education in our society. English speaking scientific students are very necessary for the development of the society”.

The genesis of ‘Swami Janaki Das Vidyapith’ was humble, with Nursery, K.G. and class I. On Day One, the school sported 52 students, 3 teachers, one clerk and five rooms.

As the mission of spreading the light of education across social strata gained momentum, the number of students steadily increased, and a new class was added every year. It was clear that the movement was slowly but steadily making its impact felt: Even guardians from surrounding areas started approaching SJDV to admit their kids.

Swami Janaki Das Vidyapith gained affiliation to CISCE (New Delhi) in the May of 2020, a joyous inflection point in its odyssey that added validation and velocity to the quest.

Today, the three-storey school edifice – a reminder of the miracles the human spirit is capable of - houses 13 digital classrooms, fully equipped Labs, a well-stocked library, sprawling playgrounds and diverse avenues for extra-curricular activities and personality development of students.

As we enter the spring of 2022, our verdant premises are alive with the bustle and laughter of over 350 bright and happy young schoolers. Guiding them along is a 20-member team of qualified and dedicated Teachers-cum-Mentors, 4 experienced Administrative Personnel and 4 caring non-Teaching staff.

YES, WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY. AND YET, THE JOURNEY HAS JUST BEGUN.
